Kotkan Seurahuone selected as the best concept hotel in Northern Europe

The international World Luxury Hotel Awards gives awards to high-quality hotels that offer an excellent setting and level of service to their guests. The winners will be selected based on the vote of the hotel guests. Guests voted Kotkan Seurahuone as the best Northern European concept hotel of 2022.

The extension designed by Laitila Architects was completed in 2012. Seurahuone was given the finishing touches to its current appearance in 2019, when Seurahuone’s restaurants and hotel rooms were renovated to meet the expectations of modern hotel staff and hotel guests.

Luxury is born from the details

“The customer experience is formed by how well the building works as a whole,” says architect Tuukka Karjalainen, who was responsible for the renovation project. “Even small details can stick in the customer’s mind, such as correctly placed sockets or whether there were enough parking spaces. That’s why the design always starts with the customer’s needs.”

Kotkan Seurahuone was not originally a hotel, but the purpose of the building has changed over the years. This brought its own challenges to renovation. The new premises have been designed to serve the staff and customers in the best possible way, and on the other hand, the adaptability of the premises was also taken into account in the design, as needs inevitably change again. The facilities have received praise from the hotel staff, and the World Luxury Hotel Awards victory also speaks well of how customers have received the renewed Seurahuone.
